15:00 Italian time — 14:00 GMT, 7:00 PT, 10:00 ET, 23:00 JST. Nintendo bills it at roughly fifteen minutes of announcements and updates on indie games for Switch 2 and Switch, and it goes out on Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel.
That is the service part.
Nintendo has named nothing
No games, no dates, no prices. The announcement ran the standard sentence — roughly fifteen minutes of new announcements and updates on indie games coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch — and stopped. Any lineup you read this morning is somebody’s guess dressed as a leak.
The last Indie World was in March. Several of the games it showed have since shipped: Denshattack, a port of the twin-stick shooter Minishoot’ Adventures, and a shadow drop of Blue Prince on the day of the broadcast itself. That habit of putting a finished game on the eShop before the stream ends is the argument for watching live rather than reading the round-up.
One detail I could not confirm: a report that Nintendo’s Japanese page lists the domestic broadcast at around twenty-five minutes, against the fifteen quoted everywhere else. I found it in one place and could not check it against Nintendo directly, so fifteen is the number to plan around.
Two consoles in one brief
The sentence says Switch 2 and Switch, and that conjunction is the hard part of every game in the reel.
Switch 2 hands a small team an Nvidia part with upscaling on it — the first time an indie on Nintendo hardware can pick a sensible internal resolution and let silicon do the rest. The 2017 machine hands them a mobile part that was already two years old the day the console shipped. Shipping both means two LOD budgets, two shadow resolutions, two texture sets, and a lighting rig that has to read the same way on each, on a team that might be four people and a contractor. Scale changes the size of that bill and not its shape: what porting Diablo 4 to Switch 2 costs the art team came down to the same arithmetic with a studio to spread it over.
So watch for which games are announced Switch 2 only. That is a team working out that the old console is no longer worth the month.
What the reel will not show you
Thirty to sixty seconds a game, cut by Nintendo’s own editors, is not footage you can read performance from. The cuts tend to land where a drop would. Judge the silhouette work, the colour, the art direction — the things that survive compression and a hard edit — and hold everything about frame pacing until somebody runs the game on hardware.
Nintendo’s winter is crowded already. The September Direct laid out the Switch 2 schedule through the Ocarina of Time remake in November, and fifteen minutes of indies is how the weeks between those get filled.
Round-up an hour after it ends.
